Life lessons

Recently I awoke to my twin boys fighting with one another.  Although this doesn't happen frequently, it is beginning to happen a bit more frequently than I would like.
So, I've implemented something new in our household.  Copy work as punishment. The first offense gets you 25 sentences and it will go up in increments of 25 each time it happens.

Both boys had to do the copy work.
In our house the person who "starts it" gets punished as well as the person who chooses to retaliate.  It is the only way I know to illustrate to my children that you don't follow bad behavior with more bad behavior.

How do you handle children hitting one another in your family?

Honestly, I let them duke it out on occasion. I have talked to them individually about better ways to handle situations... I have encouraged walking away from a fight... I have encouraged turning the other cheek... But sometimes you just have to hit back hard where they both see that it hurts to fight and nothing really gets "fixed" in the end.

BUT if you choose to punch each other, you cannot touch around the neck, inanimate objects are not allowed and you CANNOT come crying to mommy! :)

I think I am going to add your copywork idea to my toolbox though!

I just hit them back.

I kid! I kid!! ha! Well, I don't get the priviledge of having kids fight in my home but I LOVE your idea of copy work!

How have the boys reacted to it?
