Happy Birthday Edie!

Happy Birthday Edie!

After reading Edie’s blog for several months I had the honor of meeting her in person at Blissdom and I admired her even more.  She is exactly how she appears on her blog. Her heart for her family, character and love for the Lord is so evident. She is a light for the Lord and a real life example of a Proverbs 31 woman.
The fact that she blessed me with one of her infamous Mocha cupcakes was only (literally) the icing on the cake for my growing admiration of her.
There was also the bookmark that she gave me (okay, and a couple hundred other people) that still makes me smile and think of her.  I keep it tucked in my bible.  It inspired me to create a similar bookmark with a different verse for our youngest daughter’s dedication luncheon.
Edie just flat our inspires me.
So, it is no surprise that even during her recent tragedy I am again inspired.
By her honesty.  By her grace.  By her faith.
And I am humbled that while I was bemoaning my circumstances (having to move out of the house we spent 2 years building for 6 months of repairs) and grumbling about packing up our home putting it into storage and relocating our homeschool—–there was Edie reflecting on Job as she faced rebuilding her life, from scratch.

And I’m still humbled.  But this post isn’t about me. It is about celebrating Edie and offering her more words of encouragement as I vow to lift her family in prayer.

While Edie is spectacularly talented at making an earthly home for her family, the truth is none of this is permanent.  The only thing that is truly of value and permanent is our eternal home in heaven.

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

That home has not been harmed and neither has Edie’s faith or talent. I look forward to watching Edie rebuild her earthly home and to her sharing what God has shown her through this trial.  I believe the best is yet to come.
Happy Birthday Edie!
