I've had a rough week.
Actually, if you count our home building fiasco it has been a rough two years. I'm contemplating yet another blog, this one called, The Griswalds build a house, but more on that later. After the lawsuit. Yes, it is that bad.
{sigh}
But back to the rough week.
Earlier this week, en route on a field trip to Forever Florida, I got pulled over for speeding. There I said it. I, the one who won't let anyone else drive my children, was speeding after missing my exit and finding out I added another 30 minutes to our almost 2 hour drive...with a 2 year old!
To make matters worse, my tag was expired.
As in 4 months expired.
Oh, and I didn't have a current proof of insurance in my car. Make no mistake, my insurance is very much up-to-date. I just had not printed out the form my insurance company emailed me when they decided to save paper. Come to think of it, I should have tried that on the officer. It might have helped.
Can't you just picture it?
"Yes I do have insurance officer but I don't actually print out my insurance cards because I've decided to go green and save a tree."
I could have gotten 3 tickets, but the kind officer only gave me two.
He said he was not going to give me the speeding ticket ($180) because he couldn't find any past offenses on my driving record! Yes, I have a perfectly clean record!
Or rather, I had a perfectly clean driving record, until he pulled me over for speeding.
Did I mention my kids were in the car taking in the whole thing?
Talk about embarrassing!
Actually, what was truly embarrassing was getting pulled over again, today.
Not for speeding. Lesson learned on that one, thank-you-very-much, but for not having a current registration or proof of insurance in my car. Again.
What is wrong with me?
Don't ask me how or why, but the officer gave me a written warning along with explicit instructions to go online and handle my registration renewal and print out my insurance cards TONIGHT. No one could have been more shocked than me. He was so snippy with me I thought for sure that if he could have hauled me into jail with children in tow, he would have.
Did you know you could renew your registration online?
Now, why didn't the first officer tell me that?

Aw, I feel for you! Some days are like that, aren't they? And of course, it would figure that you had an audience. Every time my children and I are driving anywhere and pass a police car, they say to me...Mommy, do you have your seat belt on???!!! lol I kinda sorta told them that if they don't wear there seat belt, the police will pull us over and haul us off to jail. Oops. Now it backfires on me all the time. So lovely. Hope that's the last of your tickets for a while! ;) You rebel you...lol
Oh, no! You poor thing!
Either he didn't know either or assumed you did ;D Sorry about the tickets though, that really sucks. :(
Uh-oh!
I got a ticket a little over a year ago and I was thankfully able to pay a small fine and then have it taken away if I didn't get any more tickets in the next year. I didn't. Whew!
I totally feel for ya! Being pulled over makes your blood pressure rise!
Awww... sorry for your stinky week! Wow that the first officer didn't give you a ticket.
Yup, I renew our registration online but only after they send me a paper notice. :)
More than anything, I am glad you are safe and sound, my friend. Hope you get a little Starbucks to brighten your day today!
Didn't he give you the option to go to court and have it dismissed?
Hilarious! I've had the same thing happen to me, just not two days in a row. That's like a sign from the big guy that you need to get organized. Although, I know for a fact you are the most organized mom out there :)
