Not your typical book club

An Infertile Blonde and I have a book club.

It was born of the idea that we both:
love books.
have piles of them around our house
And no one has ever invited us to be in a book club

Well, that is not actually true.
There was that one book club I found where they flat out told me, "We don't talk about books, it's just for Mom's to get out of the house." And then there was the fact that I was infertile and didn't have any kids to try to escape my house from---and so they weren't really telling me I couldn't come, but they weren't really welcoming me either.

But our book club is also not your typical book club either.
We live 1,249 miles away from one another which makes meetings a little difficult. Although we are still working on that!

So how does such a book club work?
Beautifully.

We mail each other a box of books whenever we have a nice stack to send.
We attach post-it notes to the books with our little blurbs.
"Love this"

"Read this FIRST"

"Its okay"

"I found our new favorite author"

Sometimes, if a book is really on our mind we will dish about it.
On the phone. Or via email.
Other times we will just text each other.

"You weren't kidding!
I am loving this book!"
One of the best things about our book club is the fact that our book tastes are different.
Yet, it works. We rarely purchase the same books. So when we get our box, it is full of books we might not have picked out on our own...and yet we both enjoy it.

And it makes me feel like we still live in the same town.
Because I miss her.
But we have the book club.
And that makes it easier.

I'm a proud Christian homeschooling mother of 5 and wife to a Road Warrior CEO. Four of our children came through the miracle of IVF and 1 through the miracle of adoption. Before I became a home educator I was a interior decorator, event planner, store owner and professional organizer! Now I get to use my past professional skills (and a few new ones) to the benefit of my family and our home.

Did you miss this?
