7 Quick Takes #45

-----------1--------------

I spoke at the Heart of the Matter Conference for the first time this year. It was amazing.
There were 130 women in my session. I am so glad they didn't tell me that until after I was done. I was able to share some resources with other homeschool moms and that felt great. I sometimes feel guilty about all the great things I find online that other women have shared. This is my way of giving back. I cannot draw or design lapbooks, but I have research skills. Or maybe its "skilz"---nah, I'm not that cool.

--------------2-----------------

G-man had what we thought was an allergic reaction to clams a week ago on a Tuesday night. Turns out it may not have been the clams after a negative strep and mono test we returned for another more intensive blood test almost a week later to discover, it was mono after all. I'm hoping the large bulges from his neck disappear soon. He is my non complaining kid but I know the fact that his throat hurts so much is starting to bother him. He's also started to sleep a lot. This kinda throws a monkey wrench into our back to school week.

The landscaping is really coming along at our new house. The funny thing is that it makes the neighbors feel like we'll be moving in any day now...if only. Looks like another 2 months. I think this yard is going to make me look like quite the gardener. When in truth, I know nothing. I say things like, "Move that pink plant---whatever its called over here." or "I don't like that bush or plant or whatever it is." I'm sure they appreciate my insightful comments. But I do have an eye for placement, or so I tell myself. Thankfully it begins with a good landscapers original vision. I'm so happy that we found someone who listened to us and really created all these little areas for our kids. We were so excited to discover our milkweed plants are filled with monarch caterpillars!

------------------------------4----------------------------

A friend of mine has been trying to have a baby. Boy do I know how that feels. I was so worried for her and anxious. I wanted to ask, but I knew not to ask. It felt like my own clock was ticking, but Big Daddy assures me it is not. Whatever. Anyway, she is pregnant! I am over the moon with joy and I'm thinking that buys Big Daddy a good 6 months before I start craving another child to homeschool! Oh, and I think her taking a picture of her pregnancy test was a way better idea than mine of including the test IN by baby album. I know, I'm dumb. I blame it on the fertility drugs, hormones, and temporary insanity.

I received my Constructive Playthings catalog this week. Why does my heart skip a beat with the arrival of a catalog? I loved getting into bed with my sharpie marker in hand and circling to my hearts content. I have passed that trait onto my children. I think that is hillarious. Big Daddy, not so much.

-------------------------6------------------------
I saw this ring and thought it would make a great 10th wedding anniversary ring (plus birthday, christmas, valentines day etc.). I also thought it would be great if Big Daddy and I renewed our wedding vows...at our new house next year and I wore my original wedding dress. I can still fit in it, (4 kids later) thank-you very much and I really loved that dress. I have never felt so beautiful or happy in my whole life. I mean the birth of my kids was happy but I sure didn't feel beautiful afterwards, know what I mean? Anyway, it seems like a shame to just wear a dress once, don't you think?

-------------7---------------

Our homeschooling co-op kicked off this week and I'm so excited about what we have planned and the women we have involved. It's exciting to say the least. Today we had an event at my house with Lee Bryan. He never fails to dazzle. It was a great way to kick off the school year. I think this picture should also answer any upcoming potential socialization questions, don't you?

You did such a wonderful job at the HOTM Conference! I hope you'll be part of the lineup each year and show us all the new things that have developed in the past year. :)

Mono? How are your other kidlets? Poor guy, I hope he gets well really soon!

Very cool about the monarchs.

Even more cool about Amy!!! Yeeehaw! I am SO excited for her!

Interesting catalog-- I had never heard of it before.

And that ring is beautiful! I have three rings-- my engagement ring, my wedding band and my 10 year anniversary ring. I only got the ring because I told David 2 years in advance-- hey, when we celebrate our 10 year anniversary I am going to want something with diamonds. Because he told me when we were first married that he is not a mind reader (no matter how much he should know something!). :)

So I told him. And we found a great ring-- although it wasn't what the boys wanted me to get. If you can imagine the gaudiest grandma bling-bling ever, then that would be what they were picking out! LOL

Oh and the last time I tried on my wedding dress was after I had Noah. :) It still fit, thankyouverymuch! Then I had it preserved and dare not open that sealed box-- but at least I can peek through the little clear window.

I remember circling stuff in catalogs as a kid, we never got anything that we circled, but it was alot of fun!
