Cooking vs. Preparation

Now that I am embracing my personal verse for the year, I've decided that this isn't my season to cook. Which really works out great since apparently this isn't my children's season to eat a variety of foods either.

Three things that I've recently discovered are:

Amy's Mac & Cheese. You find it in the frozen section. This is so good. I especially love how I can pop it in the microwave. Yeah, it's sad when you are microwaving mac and cheese----but this is truly good.
No Pudge Brownies.

Who knew nonfat could taste so good?
Of course eating the whole pan in one sitting probably discounts any caloric savings. Not that I've done that personally of course.

And finally my latest favorite, Alexia frozen breads. The french rolls look and taste wonderful. Throw a couple in the oven and you are good to go. Which makes me wonder if you couldn't just make some and freeze them yourselves? And by you, I really mean you, since I'm quite content to buy the frozen stuff this season of my life.

I hope Big Daddy loves my new personal verse as much as I am starting to. I guess it is time to subscribe to Semi-homemade...man, why didn't I think of being the semi homemade Chef first?

While I love to cook from scratch, our busy schedule calls for otherwise. I am not very good with freezing meals for later but I have become the queen of quick cooking! It really is all about having the proper basic ingredients on hand. And Sam's Club's is also a godo friend to us. Austin loves the shrimp scampi that you just toss in a skillet.

Hey I believe you are... meal planning! Yah! So I've heard some crazy stories lately I need to blog about and was wondering if I could quote you on this: "I sometimes wonder why we moms cannot all just get along? Why are we recreating Junior High with each other? To that end, I've made it my personal mission to give mothers with temper tantrum throwing toddlers a BIG smile and a empathetic, " Hang in there. We've all been there!" Instead of looking down at them and smirking because my children are currently behaving like angels and nibbling on an organic mini rice cake." Its probably my favorite thing to read of all time and I would love to share it, let me know if thats ok!

I love that Annie's Mac and Cheese! It is good and not unhealthy. If I were to make mac and cheese from scratch it would be a lot worse for me than Annie's, so I am a fan of the frozen kind.

I feel like lately all I do is eat frozen meals and i never cook. That could be because we are trying to work our way through the freezer and eat things so we don't have to throw them out in three weeks when we move!

I do enjoy cooking but usually succumb to being too hungry to deal with it and go with the quick fix!

Oh my, I'm sooo with you! Sometimes you just want to pop something in the microwave for a minute or less! I have tried those Alexa breads - they are very good. I have that exact mac-n-cheese in my freezer but haven't tried it yet. Good to know that you like it! I'll whip that up along with a frozen pizza at some point this weekend. Thanks for sharing your good find.
