In celebration of National Handwriting Day, January 23, 2009, Handwriting Without Tears will hand deliver letters to the White House. Children are encouraged to hand-write letters to the President with their advice for him in the coming years. As someone who is very concerned about the future of homeschooling and what that means for my own family I think it's a wonderful opportunity to encourage all homeschooled children to write a letter to the President, let them know they are homeschooled and that they are quite happy, thank-you very much.
I understand our nation's schools need assistance right now and I pray for that daily since I know homeschooling is not an option (or desire) for every family. But, for those of us who do wish to continue homeschooling, I think this is a wonderful time to let our children's voices be heard----not to mention show off that good handwriting we've been working on all year!
